Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda
Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, is an amateur sports and non-profit association, created on 22nd January 1929. Everything started at Caffè Sport –Viale Aguggiari in Varese, thanks to the agreement between the great leader of Varese’s cycling Antonio “Togn” Ambrosetti and the three time world champion Alfredo Binda. The Club’s colours are white and red, printed on the front of the jersey is shown the name S.C.BINDA-VARESE. The white and red team have always been supported by cycling enthusiasts from Varese and its surroundings, so as to achieve 644 active members in 1939.
Nowadays Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda is known all over the world, both in professional and amateur cycling, thanks to the member’s passion and its reliable organization. Its palmarès includes the organization of two World Road Championships, respectively in 1951 and 2008.
The popularity of S.C. Binda has grown throughout the years in the territory and enjoys the esteem of national and international Istitutions.
Since 1929 S.C. Binda organize Tre Valli Varesine, road cycling race dedicated to professional cyclists 1.HC category, which is part of the UCI Pro Series circuit.Tre Valli Varesine , of whom first edition was held back in 1919, has now arrived to its 100th edition.
Since 1967 beside Tre Valli Varesine is Piccola Tre Valli, dedicated to Juniores category and this years will celebrate its 45th edition.
From 2016 Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda also organize Granfondo Tre Valli Varesine, a race for all cycling enthusiasts, start and finish line in Varese.The great reliable organization, also adressed to amateurs events, has been awarded by UCI with the assignment of Granfondo World Championship 2018.
Lauretta Binda, daughter of the great Champion, is Honorary President of Società Ciclistica Alfredo Binda, while the role of President is currently held by Renzo Oldani.
