Tre Valli Varesine is a cycling road race which takes place in Varese province from 1919, dedicated to the male professional category 1.HC of the UCI Pro Series calendar.
The three valleis that give the name to the competition are Valcuvia, Valganna and Valceresio.
Throughout its long history Tre Valli Varesine was attended and won by some of the most important national and international cyclists as Piemontesi (1922-1932), Bartali (1938), Coppi (1941-1948-1955), Magni (1947) and Nencini (1956), during the Sixties and Seventies Motta (1965-1966-1967-1970), Merckx (1968), Basso (1969) and Moser (1976-1978).
In the Eighties won stars such as Saronni (1977-1979-1980-1988), Ballerini (1987) and Bugno (1989), until nowadays with the victories of Chiappucci (1994), Rebellin (1998), Celestino (2001), Di Luca (2003) and Nibali (2015).
Five are the cyclists from Varese in Tre Valli Varesine roll of honor Battista Visconti (1928), Albino Binda (1930), Severino Canavesi (1934), Giuseppe Fezzardi (1962) and Stefano Garzelli (2005 – 2006).
From 1997 Tre Valli Varesine together with Coppa Agostoni and Coppa Bernocchi is part of the Trittico Regione Lombardia, that this year count its 24th edition.
Tre Valli Varesine 2022, 101st Edition, will take place on Tuesday 4th October 2022.
